Cohort Party!

Do we need a reason to party in this beautiful weather we've been having? No, but the reason we had was that Rachel's fiancee was visiting on his spring break, so we had a party! It was nice to have a party because it forced me to clean my house, which needed it sooo bad. Not that we're crazy dirty or anything, but just things we don't clean all the time that just really needed cleaning. Anywho, the party was a blast! We all hung out on the back patio and I BBQed some chicken and everybody else potlucked the side dishes. Tasha's husband Afa provided us some awesome background music on his ukulele and we just had a good time talking and laughing. Definately got to do it again!

Recess!

For one of my classes this semester I've had to go and visit schools around the area. I've gone to schools up in American Fork, a youth detention school in Springville and yesterday I went to an Elementary School in Provo. Yesterday had to be one of the funnest visits that I have had all semester. My classmate Jeff is the old man of our cohort. He was a teacher for 12 years before deciding to go into school psychology and is about to become a grandpa! Well his youngest son R.J. is an 2nd grader and Jeff naturally likes to take some visits to his son's class. Jeff and Wan-Ting needed a third person to join their visiting group for this week, so I volunteered. We went to RJ's class and read with some of the students for 10 minutes before recess.

The teacher invited us to come participate in recess with the kids. WOW! So much fun! The little girl I was reading with quickly disapeared to find her friends, but after standing around for just a minute, two girls came up to me and one pushed her friend towards me and said, "She wants to meet you!" I made the introduction and said, "What, YOU don't want to me?" She met me as well and then they took me to see where they build their fairy castles. Of course all the boys had recently destroyed them. Suddenly I was surrounded by a gaggle of girls who all wanted to tell me all about themselves and to see if I knew their relative that went to BYU. It was pretty funny.

Our girl group was eventually interrupted by a little boy who said that the other boys were pushing him. Turned out the other boys wanted him to play tag, but he didn't want to play tag and was upset because no one wanted to play Power Rangers with him. I was suprised that was still around... Anyway, he ran away before I could help him anymore. I think he was determined to be in a sulk. I watched the boys play freeze tag and the quiet game (which was fun for them because they did all they could to make one another yelp), but I got distracted when I noticed some kids trying to throw a ball at a tree. I asked them what they were doing and they wanted a pod that was hanging off one of the lower branches. I threw the ball and got it down for them. Apparently the little girls wanted them for the "magical beans" or something similiar. Sweet.

So then I started kicking the ball around with one kid and before I knew it a whole group descended and wanted to play soccer. This was the best part. We ran around and played together and it was the most fun I'd had in a while. When I used to work at Springall, P.E. was my favorite part, for good reason. I love to be outside and playing! These little kids were so friendly and accepting! And they were really well mannered kids. If they pushed someone down or hurt someone on accident, then they were quick to apologize or only needed little prodding to do so.

So I've decided! I just need a little recess in my life to keep me good and happy. I think when I become a school psychologist, I definately will need to sneak away to recess every now and then! :D

Cursed car! Why do you HATE me?

Ok, today I went to pick up my car from the collision repair place and about halfway home, boom! It craps out on me. That crappy fuel pump my dad bought off the internet doesn't work anymore :P Gee, what a suprise. So now my car is sitting on 700 e. No good. To say that I'm kind of sick of this would be the understatement of the YEAR!

Mildly Crunched

I always knew there was a reason I stay up late. I was reading comments on my Boston facebook album at like 12:30 last night when I hear a horrid crunching noise! I look outside and a car is starting to drive away. I run outside and the car stops. I look at my poor abused Saturn and she's been crunched! Sad :( I had just gotten my car back! I was parked on the street because my roommate needed to leave for school/work early this morning. Apparently a girl who had been hanging out at the boy's apartments across the street had backed into my car. Sheesh! 2009 is not looking like a good year for my car :P
